TREATMENTS
The treatments offered by Prof. Bischof range from hemorrhoidal problems to operative treatment of diverticular and cancer disease. He also performs screening colonoscopy at short notice for all medical insurances. Competent management of cancer patients is provided by his function as coordinator of the „interdisciplinary tumor board“ at the Evangelic Hospital, Vienna.
About 2% of the population in our country suffer from severe sweating of the hands, armpits, feet or face. The disorder typically affects teenagers or young adults, who do not have any other medical problems. When conservative treatment fails,
ETS (endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy) can offer long-lasting cure. The minimally invasive procedure is performed by thoracoscopy and the sympathetic nerve clipped bilaterally. Prof. Bischof introduced the clipping technique in Austria and is one of the leading surgeons in the world treating patients with hyperhidrosis and facial blushing.
He recently served as president of the International Society of Sympathetic Surgeons (ISSS).
Hernias are on of the most common diseases general surgeons are treating. Dr. Bischof has introduced hernia centers at 2 hospitals in Vienna and is involved in ongoing studies as member of the Austrian Hernia Forum. Together with his team he is actively participating in education and training of national and international hernia surgeons. „Thereby I can offer the most effective and safe surgical techniques to my patients“
Hernia surgery can be conducted as day surgery in selected cases.
GERD – gastroesophageal reflux disease
Heartburn is a common symptom of patients suffering from reflux disease and hiatal hernias.
At the Evangelic Hospital we offer complete diagnostic work-up (gastroscopy, manometry, 24-hr-pH-study) to asses the severity of the problem. We are one of the most specialized high-volume surgical units in Vienna performing hiatal hernia surgery, providing low morbidity and optimal postoperative results.
Since 2017 Prof. Bischof chairs the unit of „General and Vascular Surgery“ at the Evangelic Hospital, Vienna.
